General Hospital Kelly Thiebaud Shares Reason Behind Her 2022 Exit

General Hospital Kelly Thiebaud Shares Reason Behind Her 2022 ExitGeneral Hospital spoilers reveal that Kelly Thiebaud, who plays Dr. Britt Westbourne, recently revealed the reason why she left the ABC soap in 2022. Learn more below.

Kelly Thiebaud Shares With Maurice Benard

Thiebaud was this week’s guest on Maurice Benard’s (Sonny Corinthos) State of Mind podcast. The topics discussed ranged from how to pronounce her last name correctly to not being allowed to have a boyfriend while in high school, as well as modeling, acting, and, of course, why she left GH back in 2022.

Thiebaud told Benard that the reason she exited the soap was a result of different factors. The actress noted, “I was lonely. And then, you know, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) left during COVID, and I had just signed a three-year contract because our characters were taking off, and I was like, I want to be here for this. This is amazing what we’re doing.”

But then Burton left, and Thiebaud realized she was on the soap, without her leading man. She began to feel restless both professionally and personally.

Biological Clock Ticking

In addition, Thiebaud goes on to explain that she met someone at that time. As she was turning 40, she felt this urge, as she put it, “… I was like, I have to have a baby. I’m turning 40, and I have to have a baby now.”

She attempted to get her boyfriend to move to Los Angeles; however, that did not happen, so she made the decision to move where he was. In retrospect, the actress wishes she had asked for time off, rather than leaving the soap completely.

Thiebaud also told Benard about leaving L.A. for London to pursue the relationship, but it ended up not going as planned.

She sold her house, her car, only to move back to Los Angeles to start new again. Thiebaud states, “To experience what I experienced at 40 and like blowing my life up and losing everything and having to start all over. I didn’t think that I would.”

She added, “It makes you feel like an absolute failure. And so, it was really hard to climb out of that. I do now. I feel I’m not as weighed down by it.”

Still, the actress also stated, “Now I’m starting all over, and it’s beautiful and difficult and lonely and so many other things.”

Thiebaud goes on to say, “I’m just telling myself that this is my period to just get back on my feet. Love myself again, find myself again, and have a relationship with me.”
