Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) knows Erika Slezak from One Life to Live. Now the two actresses are filming together on General Hospital, and Nancy is sharing a bit about their past together. Read on to find out why Nancy is so admiring of Erika.
Erika Started Filming
It’s been about three months since GH fans heard that Frank Valentini announced Erika Slezak would be on a short contract on the ABC show. Right now though, it’s not clear what character she is playing, or even the nature of her role. Nonetheless, fans look forward to seeing her on their screens.
Nancy Lee Grahn posted to her Instagram ahead of the weekend, and she didn’t let loose any spoilers. However, her message praised Erika to the high heavens. The real-life Alexis Davis shared a nice photo, then she wrote a long story in her caption. There, she shared a story of Slezak’s past support.
Helping A Young Actress
Early in Grahn’s career, a producer clashed with her for wanting to leave One Life to Live. The GH star certainly changed since those days and likely a producer these days, would get rocket blast from Alexis Davis. However, young and uncertain, the unfairness stung. So, she approached Erika who stepped up to help her.
Grahn said that she played the role “Beverly Wilkes,” and the lack of a contract meant she had to give “a week’s notice” to go and do other work. She wrote, “I remained uncontracted and free to do other things as long I gave them 7 days notice.”
Anyway, when she did that to go for her “3rd screen test” as Stella Siegel in NBC’s The Gangster Chronicles, giving notice landed her in hot water with producer Joe Stuart. He decided to sue her. That’s when Slezak stepped in to help.
Nancy said:
I went to Erika for advice. Erika, without being asked to, went directly into her bosses office and told him in no uncertain terms that what he was doing was unconscionable, mean and unwarranted.
Not only that, the newcomer to GH even got involved in a “lawsuit and stood up for me, because she believed what her boss was doing to me was wrong, and undeserved.”
ABC Fans React
In the comments section, many daytime drama fans wanted to say something about Slezak and Nancy. One of them wrote, “I’ve lost so many good people that I truly enjoyed watching over the years, but I’m absolutely ecstatic that Erika Slezak will be on GH.”
