General Hospital Spoilers: Eva LaRue’s “Hated” Character Natalia Ramirez Exits One Year After Debut
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Natalia Rogers-Ramirez (Eva LaRue) has left the building. On the June 30 episode, fans saw the complicated lady wash down a handful of pills with some booze, collapse, and OD.
The actress said she had an “awesome experience” on GH, but the character never built a big fan base, and she exits just one year after her debut.
Eva LaRue Exits GH
Eva LaRue’s character Natalia came on board with some baggage—as the “disapproving and homophobic mother of Jacqueline Grace Lopez’s Blaze.” According to Entertainment Weekly, the character “earned the ire of the long-running soap’s viewers.”
Executive producer Frank Valentini told the outlet that “Eva’s been a dear friend for years and I am so pleased we found an opportunity to work together.” He added “What originally was meant as a guest star arc turned into a longer and more satisfying arc, in thanks to Eva’s terrific work and chemistry with our cast.
I was thrilled Eva was available to us in this extended role. I wish her all the best in her upcoming projects.”
Eva LaRue Starred on All My Children
LaRue confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that she was only supposed to star for two months, a stint which turned into one year.
The daytime vet previously starred as Maria Santos Grey on All My Children and with all the AMC vets on the canvas it was “like home” for the beautiful and talented actress.
Natalia’s rash choices were informed in part by the treatment she got from mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Sonny Has Blood on His Hands?
According to the actress, “They tried to rehabilitate my character and then all of a sudden, I have these scenes in January where, because Natalia had lied about her ex-husband and broken his trust, Sonny was like, ‘We can’t be friends anymore.'”
She said that she knew the end of the friendship spelled the eventual end for her character. She added that the audience didn’t want her with Sonny “because they just hated my character so much. I was so vilified.”

And despite her insistence that “The GH fans couldn’t stand [Natalia]!” LaRue has nothing but praise for GH.
“I had a blast at General Hospital. I loved being there and I had a lot of really great scenes and I loved everybody that I got to work with. It was just an awesome experience, and I was really glad that I got to stay longer than I was supposed to.”
