General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) is one of world’s foremost mental health advocates. He has starred on the hit ABC sudser for decades, won two Emmy awards, authored a book, is a devout family man (and dad to his infamous social media diva goat Buddy) and still he has time for a podcast, State of Mind, in which he discusses everything germane to mental health. He recently posted a strong message on Insta with the caption: “A Message for My Friend On @mbstateofmind I’m sharing a message I received from my friend Cody. General Hospital spoilers: What Happens Next in Port Charles?
Benard portrays Sonny Corinthos on the sudser set in fictional Port Charles, NY. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in his youth and was instrumental in having the show write the diagnosis into his character.
Right now Sonny is an amnesiac, and he recently showed what bipolar looks like when someone is off their medication. Long story short, Sonny fell off a bridge, made it out of the frigid water, and collapsed in the snow. He was encouraged by the ghost of his father Mike Corbin (Max Gail) not to give up and he is now living with a couple in their bar. But he is about to rescued by Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) who has a vendetta against his family. Will Sonny ever make it home again?
